The results are in! Both Larry and Pam win!
At the official vote tabulation today in Norristown, the Board of Elections officially recorded Larry Jones as the winner for Commissioner in Ward 3 and Pamela Vasserman as the winner for Commissioner in Ward 4.
However, the official ballot count is not necessarily the final ballot count. This is because either side can file a challenge to the official count. If a challenge is filed, it’s heard by the Election Board and then by the Court should either party file an appeal.
No challenges to the vote total for Larry Jones were brought to the attention of the Tabulators today and that’s good. I don’t believe there were any irregularities in any of the votes counted for Larry, so there shouldn’t be any challenges filed.
In the Ward 4 race, the opposition challenged one absentee ballot vote for Pam and one absentee ballot vote for her opponent that was not counted for him. In my opinion (and the opinion of several experienced Election Law advisers), those challenges are weak and will fail, resulting in a win for Pam. We must now await the decision of the Election Board and/or the Court before the results of this race are final.
We all know that nothing is over until it’s over and it would be a mistake to guarantee anything at this point. Having said that, I am nonetheless highly confident that both Pam and Larry have won their respective races for Commissioner in Abington Township!!
